Success Defined

Success Defined

Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is…

Ahhh… I always loved that Jay-Z lyric.

As a basketball junkie and a long time hip-hop fan, I have tremendous admiration and respect for Jay-Z. After years and years of relentless work, he is a master at his craft, he is a pioneer in his industry, and he never gets complacent. He is a true innovator.

JAYZ

I aspire to be the same.

Like J-Hova, I want to constantly push the envelope and work hard to be innovative. I want to remain on the cutting edge of everything I do.

That’s why this blog has been MIA for a few months. I was back at the drawing board revamping, retooling, and refocusing.

This is my new blog – the Hardwood Hustle.

Expect concise, more frequent posts. The Hardwood Hustle will be a steady stream of killer content. My next post will feature a variety of 1-on-1 games you can play this off-season to take your game to the next level.

Be ready.

But I didn’t stop with just revamping the blog. I decided to give my entire online presence a makeover!

My www.StrongerTeam.com site has a brand new look!

I have upgraded my online shop and added a killer new product (Stronger Team Training System).

I have added a ton of FREE resources (articles, workouts, music downloads & basketball ‘nuggets’).

And after years of deliberation, I have finally started a podcast (also named the Hardwood Hustle).

Podcast

I feel like I have been born again. After 14 years, I am as passionate about my work as I have ever been.

I learned a while ago to never let anyone define success for you. Success is something you need to define for yourself.

I define my own success by being able to confidently answer ‘yes’ to these 3 questions:

  1. Am I truly happy?
  2. Am I constantly growing, evolving and improving?
  3. Am I making a meaningful contribution to the world?

I hope you find the new www.StrongerTeam.com a success by those measures.

Please share the new site with every player and coach you can.

The movement has already begun.

Train hard. Fuel smart. Get better.

PS: I’ve recently partnered with ViewSPORT and created a line of customized Stronger Team themed shirts using their revolutionary sweat activated technology. When you sweat, a phrase magically appears on the back! Players are going crazy over these things.

How To Fuel Performance

How To Fuel Performance

DeMatha 55, St. John’s 54. 2.1 seconds left. St. John’s had ball on their baseline. We were one stop away from advancing to the WCAC semi-finals. They threw the ball just shy of mid-court. One of our players went for the steal (and missed it). Their player calmly caught it, pivoted, took one hard dribbleContinue Reading

60 Traits of Great Coaches

I am eternally thankful to have learned from (and continue to learn from) so many brilliant coaches over the course of my career. Below are 60 traits I have picked up along the way. Being a great coach takes the commitment to ‘work on your craft’ (the things on this list) every day. Great coaches… promote sharedContinue Reading

45 Traits of Great Players

With most high school seasons approaching the playoffs and NCAA March Madness right around the corner, I felt it appropriate to dust off an old list I made in the fall of 2011 about the traits of great players. You know my favorite part about this list? Nearly every trait is 100% controllable! They are characteristics thatContinue Reading

7 Things You Can Learn from Superbowl XLVII

Here are 7 things you can learn from Superbowl XLVII: Player leadership is invaluable.  I know many people who despise him, but it’s hard to argue that Ray Lewis is one of the best on the field leaders (and most inspiring players) in the history of team sports.  As far as his play is concerned, heContinue Reading
