Incorporating a conditioning and weight training program in-season is vital to your success. Each work out begins with a basketball specific warm-up. This makes the players' muscles elastic, lubricates the joints and raises core temperature. The 4-7 minute warm-up includes baseline slide and jog, walking stretch, Frankenstein march, walking quad stretch, toe stretches and the eagle. Strength training creates muscular balance to prevent injuries while gaining strength. Exercises demonstrated are the basketball push-up, towel pull, lateral raises, basketball squats, balanced ball touch and push up hold. The seven core exercises are a big part of this training system. All exercises are done on the floor and use a basketball versus the conventional weight room training. Other basketball specific drills are the backboard touch, slide cone drill, off the backboard drill, full court slide, full court slide react drill, four corner cone, sprint recognition drill and the finish drill. Creative use of cones, heavy balls and tennis balls are an innovative feature in this training program. These tips and drills will keep your team injury-free and in tip-top basketball shape throughout the season!

“In my 17 years of coaching basketball I've never seen a program better suited for basketball than the one designed by Alan Stein. I had the opportunity to see Alan present team training workout at the Nike Championship Basketball Clinic in Las Vegas in 2007 and it was amazing, I couldn't take notes fast enough. I immediately purchased Coach Stein’s DVD’s and began to integrate his drills into my team’s summer conditioning program. My kids are in great basketball shape and stronger than ever. Coach Stein’s DVD’s are a must for any coach trying prepare his/her team!”
